Its such an easy and smooth transition, with its sneaky "problems" and "worries." But one day you wake up and think back to the way you used to look at things, and suddenly you realize that you've already found joy. Life will never be without worries or stresses, but to keep them minimal and focus on the little things in your day that make you happy is what life is all about. That is joy. It's playing with a puppy on the beach, making a new friend with that guy behind the Subway counter, finding a new coffee place just around the corner, learning how to make a new sandwich, having gelato and a girl's night out with new friends, taking photographs or writing in my journal. All those things put together, those are what joy look like. I think the problem is sometimes I think of happiness as a goal, when really it has been around me all the time. As long as I surround myself with positive things like these, joy comes naturally. I am so blessed to be here right now, and I give thanks every day for my situation.

beautifully written.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post. And so true. It's so easy to get caught up in the race of striving for this thing or the next. There's nothing wrong with wanting things of course but it's just as important to take time to appreciate the things you already have--and just live.
